MINISTRY OF DEFENCE PROVIDES DANCER FOR SCHOLARSHIP
Posted 31 July 2002
MUSICALLY TALENTED Adam Harper has no official secrets about his desire to study at Harper Adams University College, Shropshire, and has gained a prestigious Entrance Award to study there in September.
The employee with the Defence Logistics Organisation, from near Bicester, in Oxford, will receive the £500 award when he begins his course at Harper Adams.
Mr Harper, who has worked with the MOD from the beginning of November 2001, confesses that his real passion is the countryside and would like to study a Countryside Management course at Harper Adams.
During Adam's free time he is a member of his local Young Farmers' Club and he plays sport regularly. Music is a large part of Adam's life – he likes to play the guitar and sing. He has entered various talent shows in the YFC and also likes to dance, in particular Ceroc dancing, which consists of a style somewhere between ballroom and salsa.
Young Farmers has been 'pleasantly challenging' for Adam, who has also represented Buckinghamshire in the Braintrust Public Speaking League.
Richard Jopling, Head of Liaison at the University College said, “The quality of Adams submission combined with his varied work experience to date is impressive.”
Harper Adams University College is the UK’s largest, specialist centre of Higher Education for the land and food based industries. It currently has around 1800 students working on undergraduate and postgraduate courses and research.
A number of Entrance Scholarships are awarded each year on the basis of a written application. If you would like further information about courses at Harper Adams University College, please ring +44 (0) 1952 815 000 and ask for a prospectus.
